The goal of Welcome Home Sunday is to have a day when

everyone that is part of our Christian family comes together.

After all, church is supposed to be a home, and believers are family.

Our focus of worship on this day is the blessing of Christian community,

so we want to get 100% of our members there.

St. Matthew's Church Building's 100th Anniversary Celebration

So then, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of God's household. You have been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the Cornerstone. (Ephesians 2:19-20 EHV)

Christ Jesus is the Cornerstone of our faith. In 1919 the cornerstone was laid for St. Matthew's Church. In August of that year a dedication service was held to celebrate the building of the new church. 100 years later St. Matthew's is still serving the community of Benton Harbor with God's message of Jesus Christ, the Cornerstone of our salvation.

In memory of the laying of the cornerstone there will be a special anniversary worship service held on August 25th, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Mike Biedenbender, a son of the congregation, will be our guest preacher. There will be special music along with a commemoration booklet.

Following the service there will be memorabilia displays setup around the church and grounds, and an Anniversary Guest Register will be available for all to sign. Appetizers and refreshments will be served. Come and join us for this special event!

St. Matthew's

Vacation Bible Carnival.

"Once Upon a Night"

On Christmas Eve the St. Matthew's choir had the opportunity to tell the story of our Savior's birth through the words and music of "Once Upon a Night."

Told from the perspective of the Gospel writer Luke, "Once Upon a Night" uses songs and narrative to share the steps God took in bringing his Son into the world to be our Savior.

Christmas Tree Decorating Celebration

On Saturday, December 9th, St. Matthew's held its Christmas Tree Decorating Celebration.

The people of our community were invited to come and help us decorate our Christmas tree as we heard from God's word the meaning of the different symbols on the tree. We also had an opportunity to sings some favorite Christmas Carols. Afterward there was time for food and fellowship.

Thank you to all who came out to help decorate our tree!

Trivia Night at

the Red Brick Cafe.

A fun time was had by all at the Trivia competition put on by the Lincoln Township library. The competition is held at the Red Brick Cafe in Baroda. This months challenge was Christmas Trivia. While St. Matthew's was able to put together 3 teams for this competition, the "13 Kidneys," were able to still come up with a last round win. Yet everyone was still a winner as the Red Brick Cafe treated the competitors to home-made cookies!

Watch the Upcoming Events page for more Trivia Night opportunities coming up in 2018!

Michigan Lutheran High School Christmas Concert

On Saturday, December 2nd our local area Lutheran High School put on its annual Band and Coral Concert.

With the theme "Now Sing and Rejoice," the concert gave all who attended a wonderful opportunity to do both (sing and rejoice) as we began the season of Advent.

St. Matthew's own Mackenzie Zabel played the saxophone solo for the band concert. Great job Mackenzie!
