Kindergarten
St. Matthew's re-opened a full-day kindergarten in the 2012-2013 school year. We are happy to announce that the first year of the re-opening was a complete success! Our class size has doubled this year, but we still have openings for more students. Our Kindergarten meets and exceeds state standards, allowing your child an advantage for starting first grade.
Our Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Bonnie LaGrow, has taught for over 40 years, with experience at all ages and levels. "Mrs. L" as the kids call her, is excited to be able to continue teaching her current students for their kindergarten year. Mrs. Angie MacGowan is a retired Benton Harbor school teacher, also with much experience and expertise. Mrs. MacGowan generously donates time to our school, providing extra education in phonics, reading, and math.
Here's what you can expect from St. Matthew's Kindergarten:
- Full Day Kindergarten, (or half-day, if you prefer)
- Before and after school care, provided by our daycare
- A private education, at very reasonable rates
- A friendly, Christian environment
- Readiness skills for your child to enter grade school
- Daily exercise, either outdoor or in our gymnasium
- Small class sizes, emphasizing individual attention
- A focus on reading skills that enables Kindergarteners to read beyond their level.
Please call or stop by if you'd like additional information or if you'd like a tour. We currently have openings.
